Mexico Bases Inspection Report: Employee-Led Safety Initiatives

Visit to Two Mexican Bases

In August, I visited our two locations in Mexico for the first time in three years: S-Riko Automotive Hose de Chihuahua, S.A.P.I. de C.V. (hereinafter referred to as the “Chihuahua Plant”) and S-Riko de Querétaro, S.A.P.I. de C.V. (hereinafter referred to as the “Querétaro Plant”).

Current Status at Each Base

The Chihuahua Plant (manufacturing and selling of automotive hoses) has experienced a sharp increase in orders and production in recent years, initially struggling to cope.
However, thanks to the efforts of local staff and support from the Japanese business divisions, production has stabilized.
Meanwhile, production at the Querétaro plant (manufacturing and sales of automotive anti-vibration rubber and interior components) also surged sharply to meet large orders received after the end of 2023.
As for this plant, based on meticulous planning, they proceeded with the launch and achieved a smooth start-up, realizing stable operations. As a result of these efforts, performance across Mexico as a whole, has been expanding steadily.

At the same time, significant room for improvement has been identified, indicating potential for further growth.

Proactive Commitment to Safety

Our group operates its business with a strong emphasis on Safety, Security, Compliance, and Quality (S.E.C.Q.), upholding the slogan “Safety overrides all other concerns.”
At the Chihuahua Plant, safety characters selected through employee proposals and open submissions are utilized throughout the plant as posters and plush toys, emphasizing the importance of wearing safety gear.
These employee-led initiatives motivate each individual to take safety seriously as their own responsibility, yielding significant improvement results.
At both plants, we have confirmed that the employees' persistent efforts and ingenuity are consistently extending to tangible outcomes.

Looking Ahead

As the case in Mexico demonstrates, both a proactive stance and the autonomy to sustain such actions are crucial.
We aim to accelerate these efforts not only in Mexico but globally, including Japan.
Of course, if any barriers arise, I and the management team members will work together to tackle them.
To achieve our “2029V” vision of fostering “self-driven individuals with high aspirations who pioneer the future,” let’s prioritize demonstrating each member’s initiative in daily work and grow together.
