Late last month, the "FY2021 Advanced Polymer Device Collaboration Laboratory Outcome Report Meeting" was held at the Tsukuba Center (Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture) of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and I also attended.
As you all know, in 2020, AIST and our company jointly established the "Sumitomo Riko - AIST Advanced Polymer Device Collaboration Laboratory" within the Tsukuba Center.
And in October of last year, the special road that was being developed on the AIST test course was completed.
The purpose of these efforts is to accelerate the development of new technologies and products to overcome the rough and tumble of the CASE era by utilizing the human resources and R&D facilities of AIST, in addition to the advanced technologies and knowledge that both parties have cultivated.
We are now able to conduct research utilizing the test course, which we have longed for, and since last year, we have continued basic evaluation of occupant condition estimation technology and driving skill analysis. This time, the outcome reporting session was held.
After listening to the contents of the report, I felt that the cooperation between our employees and AIST researchers was more advanced than I had expected.
I said at the beginning of the year that I wanted this year to be a year of "turnaround and go on the offensive," and I sensed that progress is definitely being made both in terms of business and technological development.
I told the people involved in the project as follows.
"As mobility evolves and the shift to EVs continues, I want you to proceed with a mindset of how to make the most of our technology, grow it, and link it to our business."
I sincerely look forward to seeing the initiatives from this "Knowledge Hub Tsukuba" support our group's business and give birth to new technologies, new products, and new solutions that we can be proud of to the world.
