Thanks to the heightened health awareness of all employees, our company has been certified as a "White 500"*1 Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization for the second consecutive year.
In addition, three group companies (SumiRiko Oita AE, SumiRiko Kyushu, and SumiRiko Yamagata) have been certified as "Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations" *2.
As we frequently emphasize, the physical and mental health of each and every employee forms the management foundation that supports the company's sound and sustainable growth.
Based on this principle, each of our group companies actively engaged in health promotion initiatives, leading to this certification.
Achievement and Expansion of Health Management Initiatives
The three certified companies in our group are working to improve their workplace environments through initiatives tailored to each company's specific challenges—such as the phased implementation of smoke-free periods, awareness-raising activities regarding specific health issues, and the provision of free beverages (in limited quantities) as a heatstroke countermeasure.
Moving forward, we will continue our efforts to create better workplaces across our domestic group while also extending these initiatives to our overseas group companies.
While legal regulations, cultures, values, and employment environments differ across countries, the philosophy of being a company that values its employees and strive to grow together with them in a healthy way is shared worldwide.
To share this philosophy globally, we translated the President's message into 20 languages and distributed it to all our bases—both in Japan and overseas—in February 2026.
As previously mentioned, the health of our people—both physical and mental—is the foundation of our business.
Together with colleagues working around the world, let us devise health promotion initiatives tailored to the specific circumstances of each country and region, and foster a culture that values health.
"A Complete Ban on Smoking Across the Premises" is an initiative that values the health of colleagues.
We have implemented a complete ban on smoking across the premises of our domestic manufacturing plants and business bases, effective April 1, 2026.
This is because the work environment has a significant impact on employee health, making it a key area requiring the company's attention.
What I want to emphasize above all else is the elimination of side-stream smoke.
It is said that secondhand smoke spreads to a diameter of approximately 14 meters, even in the absence of wind*3.
Additionally, exhaled breath after smoking and particles adhering to clothing can also contribute to passive smoke exposure.
As described above, secondhand smoke not only adversely affects the health of people working nearby but also impacts workplace safety and productivity.
" A Complete Ban on Smoking Across the Premises " is not merely a rule; it is our standard—a reflection of how all employees care for their own health and the well-being of their colleagues.
We recognize that this may cause some inconvenience to smokers, but we ask for your cooperation in this initiative to protect everyone's health.
For the future we aim to achieve
These days, when choosing a place of employment, greater emphasis than ever is placed on whether the workplace allows for safe and secure work while prioritizing health.
Therefore, initiatives for "health and productivity management" are important not only for boosting the engagement of our current employees but also for enhancing our ability to be chosen by future colleagues.
Health is the starting point for becoming a "Flexible and Resilient Organization" and a "Team that Embraces Change as an Opportunity and Boldly Takes on Challenges," as well as the foundation for achieving the Sumitomo Riko Group Vision 2029 (2029V).
The goal of health and productivity management is to achieve a balance between employee well-being and the company's sustainable growth.
To achieve this, in addition to company systems and initiatives, it is essential that each and every employee pays attention to their own health and takes steps to protect and nurture it.
I will take the lead, and together we will vigorously drive forward our "Health and Productivity Management" initiatives.
Let us work together to create a workplace where every individual in our Group can fully demonstrate their capabilities with peace of mind, while valuing their own health as well as that of their families and colleagues.
Wishing you all good health!
