From October 3 to November 16, Onigiri Action is taking place.
This activity is being conducted by TABLE FOR TWO International *1 (hereinafter referred to as TFT) to commemorate World Food Day on October 16, which has been designated by the United Nations.
This is a social campaign*2 aims to deliver school lunches to children in Africa and Asia through daily activities such as posting photos of onigiri (rice balls) on a special website.
This year, for the first time, the Sumitomo Riko Group endorsed Onigiri Action and is participating as a supporting partner.
As part of the “Sumitomo Riko Attaka Club,” *3 we supported the campaign and held an in-house onigiri photo session. The event was an unexpectedly large success, especially with the participation of the younger generation of employees.
TFT Activities and Our Vision
TFT activities are an effort to solve social issues through the co-creation of NPOs,
companies, and local governments, and have attracted a great deal of sympathy.
We feel that such co-creation is a meaningful form of collaboration for both companies and society.
Our Group operates in more than 20 countries, and through TFT, we are able to deliver school lunches to children around the world, and through the traditional Japanese rice ball, we feel a deep sense of global connection.
Employees have commented that they are happy that a simple act of being involved in onigiri can bring smiles to the faces of children around the world.
This initiative also directly contributes to some of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set forth by the United Nations. In particular, our efforts are leading step by step to the important goals of “End Poverty” (Goal 1) and “Zero Hunger” (Goal 2).
Our Three Directions for 2029
We are fully committed to solving social issues with our three directions toward 2029: “Developing people and peers who pioneer the future,” “Building a flexible and strong organization,” and “Creating values for a sustainable society.
The “Onigiri Action” is exactly in line with our vision and direction, and we believe it is an important step toward building a better future through mutual support and co-creation.
