The Automotive Engineering Exposition 2022 YOKOHAMA was held at Pacifico Yokohama in late May.
The same exhibition is scheduled to be held at Port Messe Nagoya from June 29 to July 1 as the "Nagoya Exhibition" with a different period and venue.
Our company, together with Sumitomo Electric and Sumitomo Wiring Systems, has exhibited every year.
This year, we were very much looking forward to the event, as it was the first time in three years that it was held for real.
This exhibition is mainly dedicated to automotive technology.
The opportunity to have new products and technologies "touched" and "explained directly" at an exhibition is extremely valuable.
Exhibited Products
We exhibited CASE-related products in two areas: “Sensing” and “Thermal Control”.
In the sensing area, we exhibited the Monilife series "Monilife Mobility," "Monilife Wellness," and "Monilife Platform," and in the thermal control area, the "Thin-film high thermal insulation material 'Finesulight,'" "Heat insulation between battery cells," and a "Fire-resistant insulation cover for EV batteries”.
Details of each of these products can be viewed in the "Various Materials" section of the press release, therefore, I would like all employees to take a look.
An Intense Day
I headed to Pacifico Yokohama immediately after conducting the "FY 2021 Financial Results Briefing" in the Tokyo Station area in the early afternoon on Thursday, May 26.
As soon as I arrived at the booth, I was interviewed by a newspaper reporter and asked to explain the “Monilife Series”.
Also, at the Sumitomo Electric Group's booth this time, a talk show was being held between Yumi Kawabata, a journalist and former employee of Sumitomo Electric, and our explanation staff.
Our explainer appeared in the morning and seemed to be very well received, but the timing of my arrival was at the time Sumitomo Electric was scheduled to give a talk show about their products.
I wondered if I could jump in and promote our products, but then I thought to myself, "I don't want to cause trouble," so I decided to wait and see what would happen.
Then Ms. Kawabata and my colleagues from Sumitomo Electric kindly mentioned my name and our products.
Although we did not have much time, we also visited the booths of other companies.
Regarding their initiatives to promote EVs and other products, I found many products that can be rivals of our products, which made me feel a sense of crisis.
On the other hand, there were many projects with which we could collaborate, so I thought we have to deal with the current situation with speed.

Because of the Corona pandemic, online exhibitions have expanded and visitors can now inspect them at their own convenience on the web.
However, we were reminded that for companies involved in manufacturing, it is worthwhile to see and touch actual products and samples, and to receive explanations on the spot.
I also strongly felt that technological progress is faster than we think.
To keep up with this trend, our group needs to further evolve and sublimate the "polymer material technology" and "comprehensive evaluation technology" that we have cultivated over the years.
Let us all work together in our research and technological development.
